When your herd is milk recorded, as soon as the results are available on ICBF, they will also be available on HerdApp. HerdApp uses this milk recording data in many ways.

• We list the high SCC cows in the Jobs List report since these are the cows that need the most attention after a recording
• You can list all monthly milk recording results for the latest test date, or previous test dates. Sort on any of the variables on your phone
• You can list all the 305 and completed lactation results, again sorting on any variable
• Cows can be short listed based on unusual fat to protein ratios
• You can use a traffic light system for SCC where low SCC is green and high SCC is red and amber is used for the middle SCC values. You can set your own SCC thresholds for green, amber and red
• While looking at all data for individual animals you can view all the milk recording data right back to the 1^st lactation for each cow

Milk sales are the big one for dairy farmers and HerdApp provides a system to track the performance of the herd in the milk bulk tank.

• You can enter your own bulk tank record every 2 days
• Enter the yield, fat, protein, SCC, milk to calves and other optional data
• HerdApp can estimate the number of cows going in to the tank
• From this HerdApp can calculate an accurate kgMS/Cow/Day
• HerdApp can also graph these key KPI variables over time
• A number of dairy companies can stream this milk tank data directly to HerdApp with the farmers permission

Between the milk recording data and the bulk milk tank data, HerdApp helps you with visibility on your key income stream.

To help dairy farmers with selective dry cow therapy, HerdApp can quickly identify cows that need a dry cow tube, and separate them from the cows that can be dried off with only a teat sealer.

• The starting point is the SCC values in the milk recording results
• HerdApp also uses the cases of mastitis recording in HerdApp since the last calving
• Each farmer can set rules for selecting cows. For example, cows will get a dry cow tube if 1 or more SCC is over 200. Another farmer may choose 2 or more SCC values over 100 SCC
• You can also set your preferred dry period for mature cows and first calvers
• All cows with clinical mastitis are listed for a dry cow tube treatment
• The drugs and dry off dates are recorded in a batch screen for speed of data entry
• You can also see the body condition value when drying off a batch of cows and perhaps give cows with a low BCS a longer dry period

Dry data and ICBF

• All dry dates are stored only in ICBF where we combine them with the milk recording data. This ensures the quality of milk recording data is maximised
• The dry off type is also synced to ICBF so that they can measure the success of selective dry cow therapy approach
